Softshell roof top tents from TJM and Yakima are, as the name suggests, made from a soft but 100% waterproof blended fabric. They are lighter and more compact when packed than hardshell models, which makes them particularly interesting for smaller vehicles.
Another advantage of the low weight and small pack size is that, depending on the vehicle and roof load, there is often still enough space on the roof rack for an annex or other camping accessories.
